My Victor Wooten feature has been published. I did my shoot with Vic earlier this year, he’s one of the most humble, chill cats I’ve met in the music industry, hands down.
I’m shooting Agnostic Front next week for a client, super stoked.

I had a shoot a few weeks back with Escape the Fate for one of my clients. Super nice guys…
Last weekend I did a shoot with one of my favorite sax players on the globe, Kenny Garrett. Kenny’s back to playing with an acoustic Quartet, they killed it, on drums he has Marcus from The Yellowjackets….on piano, Benito Gonzalez, check him out, he’s a beast…
Here’s the Gary Clark Jr feature I put together for OKP…
I’ve been vinyl binging lately, giving my checking account a workout, lol…
My Robert Glasper shoot was done in February…four magazines, three writers and 7 months later it is so gratifying to see this come to fruition finally – Props to the dopest webzine on the planet OKP, and ?uestlove from The Roots crew for paying the bills and giving muh’fuckas an outlet – Hugs to Fredara Mareva for blessing this feature with your words and talent, I look forward to working with you more in the future – Now, back to work! lol
Hurricane Irene you silly bitch, she completely blew my groove last weekend. I had big things planned in NYC and sadly didn’t make it, no worries though, nothing that can’t be re-scheduled. I had a chance to shoot Buddy Guy and BB-King friday, Buddy Guy stole the show…posted a few live pics from that…

Lawdavmercy! It’s been a minute since I’ve updated my blog, I’m going to try and be better with this and update it a few times a week — I shot Tony Bennett last night, he was absolutely amazing!! I can’t believe he’s 85, he looked and sounded tremendous — He played all the old stuff (soooo cool) — I did a shoot a few weeks back with a tremendous new blues guitar player, Gary Clark Jr. Check em’ out, the cat is a beast — I’ll be in NYC this upcoming weekend shooting Afropunk, the lineup is solid — Stoked to shoot Fishbone, Cee Lo, Janelle Monae & Bad Rabbits…Mint Magazine did a a feature on Chali 2na and rocked one of my pics…
It’s always awesome when your work gets used and you don’t get proper photo credit or paid, LOL
My homie Victor Wooten is using one of my images from our shoot on his homepage…dig it…
Jen and the Exposed Music Fest, I like what they did with the photo…
Come out, music, drinks, and art = your winning!
Eyes Set to Kill, were absolute sweethearts, I had a blast @ my shoot. Cisco (vocalist) played me tracks off the bands new ep, which will be out in August, the stuff was BRUTAL, so good.
They’re talking about doing a B-Side with some acoustic tracks and throwing around some potential Deftones cover possibilities. Cisco mentioned “My Own Summer”, “Hole in the Earth”, “Change in the House of Flies” and “Street Carp”…I suggested “Be Quiet and Drive” I would love to hear them do that…whichever song they pick, I’m sure they’ll crush it.
The new JAGERMEISTER posters with Jen (DEMILITIA – Suicide City – Kittie) look kick ass. I dig what they did with my photo…
I did a shoot with Hot Topic’s favorite band Bullet for My Valentine a few weeks ago and at the end of the shoot Padge and Jay pulled me aside and the conversation went like this, verbatim…
Padge: Hey mate, can you score us some of the yeyo, some of that white stuff, and that bird you brought with you over there, Matt would like a bit of the ol’ n’ and out with her, can you sort that out as well?
Me: Wow…um…yea…”Do I really look like the guy who can score the yeyo?! Really Padge? Is it the track jacket? I’m not a British gangsta’ or a pimp and stop touching Brittany’s titties, yes they are real”
I can attest, after having met them and spending a few hours on the bus and shooting, they’re the epitome of the rock n’ roll cliche’…Epic douchebags…I know, shocking, right?
Here’s a link to the first Les Nubians feature. Jay and I are also working on a tangible piece with the Les Nubians that we’re doing for Pie Magazine. That should be out some time in June or July…I’ll post it when it runs…
I had the most epic Saturday night! I did a shoot with one of my heroes, HR of the Bad Brains, he was the most humble, chill, laid-back cat, awesome. Before our shoot we talked about what he’s got coming up with his solo band and the Bad Brains.
After I wrapped with HR, I linked up with one of my favorite ska bands on the planet The Pietasters, it was great to see Steve Jackson again. I hadn’t seen him in a number of years, I think the last time we hung out, they opened for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Did a quick shoot with them as well. I had a great day, really productive, got some excellent live stuff with HR also…didn’t get in until 6:00 in the morning, OMG! I’m so not in my 20’s anymore, I’m feeling it today, lol….
Silk screen artist Harold Copp and myself, are teaming up to bring an introspective look through my photography. The series will initially start with the godfathers of a musical movement, be-bop, hip-hop & hardcore. These prints are early in the series, printed on strathmore 50 lb sketch paper utilizing Harold’s unconventional printing methods. Each print is numbered and signed by myself and Copp. More info to come!
I shot Omar Rodriguez Lopez a few weeks ago. It was an odd day, I was supposed to have some face time with him, but the folks @ his label seemed quite inept and couldn’t get it together. Ultimately Chase the bands road manager sorted me out and I just ended up shooting him live. It should have been billed as The Mars Volta, Cedric and the rest of the band were there. I couldn’t figure out any of the songs in there set, totally undecipherable. I found out later, that on this run of dates, Omar and Cedric decided to play all new material.
Cedric is one of the best front men on the planet, the dude oozes sexuality (no homo) if you brought your squeeze to the show that night and didn’t score, hang it up…
A brilliant local painter-artist Harold Copp the “Shepard Fairey“ of the ROC has been doing some work with a few of my Chuck D images. He’s killing it! Knocked it out of the park!
“Another print, same image, 3 colors 1 screen, 3 1″ putty knives.” (c) Copp
The Gay Gay *Goo Goo* Dolls had to cancel there shoot tomorrow, they have to get facial’s and finish watching Twilight on there bus and can’t make it…I’m totally heartbroken *making sad face, with pouty lip* hahaha, gtfoohwtbs! I’m a little bent that a studio set was assembled and no shoot will be taking place on a Sunday afternoon, but I’ll get over it, lol
Had a quick shoot with Jucifer earlier in the week. It was great to see Amber and Ed, it’s been a minute. Towards the end of the shoot their dogs were running all around the venue, I took some quick shots of Ed and Amber with Roo and Arryo…lots of fun!
